This week Supa Swap are researching the difference between the PS3 and the Xbox. What are the differences between them?

Well lets compare them both and see which is the best out of the two most popular gaming consoles on the market.

Both consoles have good and bad points and here below is the ten biggest differences to help make up your mind which is right for you.

1. Availability of the games, while both systems have a huge selection of games to choose from, for example playstation has 300 games of which 99 are exclusive only for the PS3, where as the xbox there are 586 games of which 360 are exclusive to the console, but it is said that the games for the playstation have just that little extra edge.

2. Graphics, there is hardly any difference in the graphics on the two systems.

3. Online gaming, it is said that the online gaming for the Xbox is second to none while the Playstation is still in its developing stages.

4. Controllers, both have controllers use AA batteries which is great and easy to change, the Playstation has bluetooth which sometimes disconnects.

5. Optical drive, the PS3 is the only system to offer Blu-Ray playback, the xbox only contains the standard HD DVD reproduction.

6. Overheating, the Xbox is renowned for its overheating and malfunctioning, and it is said the PS3 is better for its hardware reliability.

7. Power consumption, PS3 uses much less power than the Xbox.

8. Aesthetics, I think everyone will agree that the PS3 looks much sleeker and smarter than the Xbox.

9. Multimedia, PS3 comes with an SD card reader not just for Sony, so for photos it works much better, where as the Xbox is better for the music collection and can be linked to other PCs around the house.

10. Price, the PS3 is much more expensive than the Xbox, but the PS3 is designed to be much more than just a gaming console, with its Blu-Ray playback.

Well what a game this is, Disney have certainly pulled out all the stops for this child friendly fun and adventurous game of The Chronicles of Narnia.

The maker is Traveller Tales who made Lego Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Prince Caspian follows in the footsteps of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and it has more realistic and mind blowing effects than you would expect from the normal kiddie's games, making this a must for the parents to play as well.

The game is pretty straight forward to play and is based on the Pevensie children who return to Narnia to help the Prince Caspian get back his rightful Throne from the corrupt King Miraz. A lot of much work and thought has gone into making sure the tales make sense, but it is advisable to read the book or see the film first.

Playing Prince Caspian is simplistic and the levels focus on mainly pushing buttons and pulling levers which makes this game a fun game to play, the levels are relatively easy but full of things to learn along the way.

On the down side this game will only appeal to a small number of people who are talking animal fans, and in a few scenes the scenery is a little difficult to see due to being a little murky, but it really is worth a play and see for yourself.

Overall Prince Caspian rates a 8/10 on my PS3 games list and definitely one to put on the Christmas stocking list.

PS3 latest game release is Pro Evoloution Soccer 2011. Take a look at the trailer above and see what you think. If you are a soccer fan then this is definitely the game for you. PES 2011 brings digital soccer to a newer level with cutting edge graphics and super moves. This game allows total control over the game, even online to give the most life like soccer experience apart from actually putting on a kit and taking to the field.

 

Total Control means 360 degree passing ratio, offering exceptional control over every pass, shot and throw-in. Shot and stamina gauges measures the players strength and level of fitness. The movement of the players is life like and with PS3 graphics this soccer game is television quality. Players are so realistic with movements, it really creates the atmosphere of actually being at the match with increased game speed, making the game burst into life ranging from slow start-off to super fast game play.

Online gameplay allows you to compete against other experienced players.

Prices at around $30 Supa Swap think this is a good price for such a high grade game.

What is the difference between the PS3 Phat and PS3 Slim? Is it the look, the price or the content? Well, actually is is all of those things. The new PS3 Slim has everything the older model (Phat) has plus more. The only difference is that the Phat version dropped in price by £50 the moment the Slim was released. The price of the new Slim PS3 is £249.99 and has hit the market with a bang and I am sure it will be met with great response.

The PS3 Slim is 32% smaller and 36% lighter than the older version. It has a much faster processor which was jointly developed by Sony, IBM and Toshiba and is less power hungry than the Phat PS3.

It has more storage with 120 GB hard disk storage which is useful as Sony are now encouraging you to download their games. It has enhanced audio with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD for superb audio quality.

However, on the downside, the new Slim PS3 does not have PS2 compatibility as Sony feel that people would have stopped playing and buying PS2 games at this stage. It has no Linux support so is not abel to install other operating systems. The Slim is still only available in black. The HDMI ports are unchanged and both USB ports are on the front.

Overall Supa Swap think the PS3 Slim is much sleeker and is great value too, but I do think that, at £50 off, the old PS3 is well worthwhile as it still looks the part and you can play your old-time favourites from the PS2.

PS3 cheats or no? What do you think about this? Supa Swap willl leave you to decide, we think in some ways it is good but in other ways it does defeat the object of the game. The good points are that you can actually survive long enough to enjoy the game to its full potential, getting to levels that in real terms may be above your ability but on the other hand the game is designed to be difficult otherwise it would be boring, and so you must endeavour to find out for yourself how to work it out and make it to the end.

The Iron Man 2 is now available on PS3, and wow what special effects it has. Get into Tony Starks armour and defeat the bad guys.

The flying on this game really does exceed most other rival games on the market and is so real it really feels like you are actually in the movie itself!.

It takes about 5 hours to complete the game and you can choose if you want to play as war machine or as Iron Man himself, fight against bad guys trying to steal a copy of Jarvis, Tony Starks butler, and using it to create Ultimo which is a giant robot that mixes with a human and therefore heals itself.

As a great fan of the Lord Of The Rings this is a great favourite of mine and mu colegues here at Supa Swap, action packed the war of the North is a battle set in the unseen lands from the world of the middle earth.

War in the North is set against the backdrop of the trilogy, it gives you the player the opportunity to explore untold stories in Middle Earth during the journey of the Ring.

Middle Earth is not a happy place, and under Sauron’s eye the forests are a dangerous place, sky’s are not safe and the fields are full of traps. The special effects are great in this game and you can choose your character and the level of fighting ability on the baddy side.

You are on a secret quest to find the wizard Ratagast. Elf’s and Dwarf’s must work together to conquer the foe’s and pass through the forest its an exiting adventure which once I start I can't stop for hours at a time, a really interesting game and great characters.

Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Supa Swap found that this is a great fast game and if you are a fan of its predecessor like we are then this is the one for you.

Speed through fields of sugarcane and race fast and dangerously near to cliff edges in your buggy whilst being chased by a huge monster truck ramming you from behind.

It features new tracks, lots of new vehicle types and a new multiplayer experience to play your friends and thrash them.
I love the special effects in this one for a great adrenalin rush. You begin the race by choosing your car type then race down a long off road course with about 10 other cars which have all different features, large ones slower but more robust, smaller faster but weaker, and so on, but you will get to know which route is best for your chosen car.
